Vain UK motorists spent over £16m on personal plates in 2011

The number-nabbing narcissists of the UK spent a total of £16m on personal plates this year, a figure that was tallied up after the DVLA's final auction of 2011, which alone raised £2.8m.

The £16,000,000 doesn't include the amount spent on regular online sales either, meaning we've actually spent much more than that - despite the ongoing recession.
