Free Practice 2: Hamilton fastest in Sao Paulo

Updated

Lewis Hamilton's run of good form continues. After setting the third-fastest time before lunch in Sao Paulo, the McLaren driver topped the timesheet in the afternoon session. With a lap time of 01:13.392 minutes, Hamilton was two tenths faster than Sebastian Vettel. The two front-runners were followed by Mark Webber in the second Red Bull ahead of Fernando Alonso and Michael Schumacher, who even headed the leader board at one point.

Felipe Massa, who will be contesting his 100th Grand Prix for Ferrari on Sunday, finished the day in sixth place. This is an important race for him, because he desperately needs to put in a decent performance in front of his home fans. Behind the Ferrari drivers is Jenson Button who is favourite to finish as championship runner-up going into the final weekend of the season. The McLaren man is ten points ahead of Alonso in the drivers' standings.
