Tobacco giant targets freebie-loving MPs
News out today about MPs accepting freebies from a global cigarette manufacturer then later voting against a bill proposing an extension to the smoking ban to include cars carrying children shows just how deep the culture of entitlement goes in Westminster.
Imagine the scenario for just a minute. You're an MP and a big multinational tobacco firm cosies up to you over the summer with a pair of free hospitality tickets to the Chelsea Flower Show or a Test cricket match including slap-up meal and all the booze you can drink.
