Scenic LA coastal road collapses into the Pacific Ocean after storm
PA
A huge rainstorm in LA has caused an 800-foot section of scenic coastal road to collapse into the Pacific Ocean.
Fortunately, nobody was hurt and no property was damaged in the massive landslide, which has left a giant hole where the road once was.
The section, a part of the Paseo del Mar in San Pedro, had actually been closed to traffic for a few months and residents had been warned to avoid the area, after experts deemed it unstable.

But, even though no one was hurt this time, locals are concerned that nearby homes will one day too 'end up in the water'.
According to the Daily Mail, Los Angeles City Attorney Carmen Trutanich told The Daily Breeze that everybody escaping injury was 'just luck.'
He also warned Los Angeles police to patrol the area overnight as it could prove too much of a temptation to thrill-seekers and nosy holidaymakers.

The landslide has actually been in action since the beginning of summer, albeit at a slow pace.
According to geologists, by November the road was moving at a rate of half an inch day.
Experts have now been employed to study the cause of the landslide, and plans are underway to build a whole new roadway.
