11. Exchange Traded Funds

ETFs are a relatively new invention. The first one was launched in the US in 1993 and they have only been available to UK investors since 2000. The main ETF providers in the UK are iShares, db-X trackers, ETF Securities and Lyxor. New ETFs are being launched all the time and, at the time of writing, there were already over 400 listed on the London market.
