Better-than-expected data from the US helped keep the FTSE 100 stable - down by just two points to 5,517 - yesterday, though it was a bit of a late intervention with Italian worries continuing to dominate. The London bourse also had a shock from Goldman Sachs, which downgraded the London bourse on worries about its Italian clearing house CC&G. The Dow Jones finished a smidge up, +0.14% at 12,096.
