Easyjet to charge for reserved seats

You pay for your air ticket in advance, plus a surcharge for paying by credit or debit card (good for the airline because it involves no invoice chasing). Now budget airlines want extra cash for reserving your seat in advance.

Ryanair has already announced the move while clinging onto Speedy Boarding; Easyjet is now also stepping smartly behind it. Why?
