Academies pay £200k: are they worth it?

Academy schools are controversial enough: running parallel to local authority schools but according to their own agenda. They can set their own rules, hours and salaries, and some of them have made some unusual decisions, It has just emerged that one academy has paid its director general £280,000.

But is it right for taxpayers' money to be spent this way?
