US patent trolls threaten UK SMEs

Reports have started to emerge of patent "trolls" in America, which buy up patents from ailing companies and look for businesses selling anything remotely similar. They then sue the backside off them - most usually settling out of court - and since the companies are in the US there isn't much we can do about it. (The trolls in the picture are of course actors and have nothing to do with actual patents).
