Mercedes E-class to go on crash diet - ok, not literally...

Mercedes' E-class is to go on a "crash" diet according to German mag Auto Bild.

Ok, so the German firm's engineers won't be shedding weight from the current E-class by literally driving head on into a reassuringly solid piece of German engineering. Instead the E-class is to receive some pretty hi-tech but lightweight engineering to banish the pounds.
