Jersey's beaches were turned into a natural canvas this weekend as artists from all over the world came to compete in the first MyMemory.com Beach Art World Championships.

hosted by Jersey Tourism, the event saw artists creating weird and wonderful masterpieces in the sand.

Visitors had a go, too, with masterclasses and a public competition taking place, and also enjoyed plenty of seasonal food and drink, displays by local artists and sculptors, plus guided walks around the beach and coastal headland.

French artist Sam Dougados was chosen as the winner by local judges Nick Romeril, Ian Rolls and Glyn Burton.

Local rake artist Andy Coutanche showed off some of his talents in St Ouen's Bay, while American artist Andres Amador prettied up the sand on Plemont Beach.
