Renewed double dip recession fears

Fears of a double dip were heightened yesterday as a senior Bank of England official warned that a negative fourth quarter could plunge Britain back into recession.

As Christmas draws near, pressure is on the highstreet to pick up the recent reported slump in sales and help improve consumer confidence.
