James Watson, a professor of politics at the American University in Rome gave the best recent description of Italy's rulers to the Daily Telegraph, saying, "it's a zombie government, not clinically dead but close to brain dead and lurching from crisis to crisis".

Neat. And accurate.

And like any good zombies they have plenty of fight left in them. Cue the unflattering scenes of brawling in Italian Parliament after MPs were caught trading insults and sarcastic remarks on television.
