Toyota Yaris: Dull but safe
Hearty congratulations go out to Toyota as the firm's latest iteration of the Yaris has achieved five EuroNCAP stars. Which means it's very safe indeed.
Luckily for Toyota, the Mk 3 isn't the first Yaris to achieve the mythical five star rating – its predecessor managed it, while the Mk 1 was the safest car in its class at launch (last century, ahem).
Thanks to added bulkheads, side bars, seven airbags and impact absorbing materials the new Yaris is a safe car to put your money into. However, it is a little dull to drive.
Of the 12 cars EuroNCAP recently tested, only the Chrysler Voyager dipped below five stars and scored four.
So, additional congratulations go to the Audi Q3, BMW 1 Series, Chevrolet Captiva, Fiat Freemont, Ford Ranger, Hyundai Veloster, Lancia Thema, Mercedes-Benz M-Class, Vauxhall Astra GTC and the Vauxhall Zafira Tourer.
If you need an MPV, it looks like the Zafira Tourer is a far safer option than the Chrysler Voyager.
