Children have two approaches to Christmas. Either they started making their Christmas list in August, and are now demanding around 50 of the most expensive toys .. or they keep mum and will only reveal at 8pm on Christmas Eve what they have asked Santa for.

Fortunately, while kids may be a mystery to their parents, they are putty in the hands of the toy retailers, who have decided what toys will be hot, and will be busy manipulating kids to agree in the coming weeks. So what should you be buying?
