Bangkok car owners avoid floods by parking on motorways
We've heard of motorways doing a good impression of a car park, but this is ridiculous.
With some 88 areas of eastern Bangkok submerged due to heavy rainfall and overflowing water, motorists are going to extreme lengths to save their cars.
The Bangkok Post have reported that around 500 vehicles have been parked illegally, on elevated highways between Ngam Wong Wan and Pracha Chuen. Thousands more are spread across other highways in the province of Nonthaburi.
These dumped cars have made commuting even more difficult for those drivers who still have to travel, especially emergency personnel.
To try and combat this growing problem, the Bangkok authorities are asking owners to move their cars. Those who don't, its understood will face a hefty towing bill.
