Results from Sky and Sports Direct get the day off to a strong start after yesterday's bumpy session on the London market. Both firms report strong growth and remain confident of future prospects. That's not the case at Home Retail, which reports sales and profits at Argos and Homebase are down and describes market conditions as "weak and volatile". In the US, it's lower than expected figures from a still surging Apple that provide the talking point.
