No penalty for Vettel

Updated

Some spectators rubbed their eyes in wonder, when Sebastian Vettel cut short the tight chicane. Race stewards concluded, however, that the world champion had not gained any advantage, because 17 seconds were still on the clock as he tackled his final timed lap.

Consequently, the Red Bull keeps start number 1 on the front row next to Lewis Hamilton, and Jenson Button remains third. Button will be pleased, as he had begged in the first instance not to have to exchange third place for second: "Third place is the second best starting position on the grid, so I hope Vettel gets off with a warning and isn't penalised."
