Yesterday's Fitch downgrade all helped drag down the UK financial sector, bashing both RBS and Barclays. However joint venture speculation pushed Rolls-Royce up nearly 10%; a stand-out performer. Overall, the FTSE-100 finished the day at 5,403, a -0.71% fall on the previous day. Better news elsewhere included the UK's trade deficit, which narrowed in August, helped by export values.
