South props up Britain's economy

Just two areas in the North and one in the Midlands match the wealth creation per worker of London and the South, according to new official figures measuring worker value.

The analysis, from the Office for National Statistics, also reveals that while the highest productivity levels are found in inner London, Blackpool worker productivity is the worst in the country.
