The £22k Corsa VXR Nurburgring is here

Yes, you read that correctly – a Corsa that costs over £22,000 has hit the shops.

The Corsa VXR Nurburgring Edition is the most advanced Corsa ever made, yes, but it's possible to buy a new Audi A4 cheaper. Ouch.
Power is up to 202bhp, from the regular VXR's 189bhp, and torque goes up a little too, to 207lb/ft. The power hike comes from a new exhaust and modified engine management system, and means the tarted up Corsa now hits 62mph from standstill in 6.5 seconds instead of 6.8.

But this is not really a car about the numbers; it's a car about getting round corners more quickly.

To that end it's equipped with a mechanical limited slip differential (LSD), the type of which is usually found on much more powerful and expensive cars, and some high-end hot hatches like the Renaultsport Megane.

We've driven the car around a track, and the LSD transforms the VXR's character, making it one of the most impressive handling hot hatches on the market.

Other changes include a new custom suspension setup by Bilstein and more powerful Brembo brakes.

As the name and badges suggest, the car was developed in the famous Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit, the result of which is "a degree of chassis balance and composure almost unheard of in its class," says Vauxhall.

You'd hope so for £22,295. It's on sale now, ready to make any buyer the undisputed king of the McDonald's car park.
