Today is the last day anyone can face compulsory retirement on grounds of their age. Clearly older people who can no longer do jobs due to age-related issues can face medical retirement same as the rest of us, but "you're over 65" will no longer wash as of tomorrow. It's possible to have mixed reactions to this; if I were a young person seeking work I don't know how I'd feel hearing that the person whose job I wanted is now allowed to work as long as they want.
