The waves light up in California

The waves have been literally lighting up at Moonlight Beach in Encinitas, California.

This picture shows a father and son watching in awe at one of nature's most beautiful spectacles.

The blue glow is created when tiny organisms are disturbed by the breaking wave, making them emit a bioluminsecent light.
