Was terrifying trader on BBC a hoax?

A trader interviewed on the BBC on Monday left presenters open-mouthed after announcing that he prayed for the next recession because of the money he could make off the back of it, and he didn't care what happened to the economy as long as it made him rich.

But was this a horrifying insight into the heartless mind of a trader, or a hoax?
