London felt the Force like never before last night when the iconic BT Tower was transformed into the world's largest lightsaber.

The landmark was given the sci-fi transformation to celebrate the Blue-Ray box set release of George Lucas' six-film series, Star Wars.

The blue Jedi beam - inspired by Luke Skywalker's sword in the first movie - lit up the capital for one night only, and took more than 60 4,500-watt lights, standing 1.3m high and weighing 124kg.

And it seems Star Wars fever is going global, as, across the pond in New York, Stormtroopers have been spotted marching down 42nd Street, and Darth Vader has even been seen hailing one of the city's iconic yellow cabs.

Can you feel the Force?
