Brits should get ready for gale-force winds, hail storms and lightning this week, warn weather experts.

Met Office forecaster are reportedly even considering issuing extreme weather warnings, saying the country will be hit by an Atlantic storm, with winds up to 57 mph - strong enough to blow off your roof tiles.

The bad news comes after the country basked in 27C temperatures this weekend, in what some called a last blast of summer.

Tom Morgan of the Met Office told The Sun: 'The whole country will see very strong winds and heavy showers which could easily give 5mm to 10mm of rain in an hour.

'Autumn is certainly starting this week, although summer can always make a return.'
