Brand new Fiat Panda revealed
This is the all new, third generation Fiat Panda. Familiar, isn't it? You might even say it panders to the status quo. Or not.
In 31 years Fiat has shifted 6.5m of the little things, making this an extremely important new model for the Italian carmaker.
Fortunately the pictures suggest much improvement, particularly in the interior ambience department. There's more than a hint of Fiat 500 in the cabin, which few will bemoan, and Fiat says there's been a "qualitative leap in comfort".
It's bigger in every which way, meaning space for five and class-leading boot volume, and there's flexibility by way of a sliding, split-folding rear bench.
Three petrol engines are confirmed, two of which are two-cylinder units: a TwinAir turbo with 85bhp and a non-turbo 65bhp version. A 1.2-litre with 69bhp completes the trio. A 1.3-litre diesel is expected later, as is a Panda Abarth to replace the much loved 100HP model.
The new Panda is due to debut at the Frankfurt motor show and go on sale in the UK during April 2012.
