BT hikes home phone prices

Home phone provider BT is set to raise its prices, hot on the heels of a wave of energy price hikes. While the company promises rises of '5% or less' are in line with inflation, they will inevitably prove unpopular with households already finding their finances squeezed.

This marks the 10th price rise from a major provider this year, and it's likely that others will follow suit. A small consolation is BT's promise of a price freeze in 2012, following a similar commitment from Sky.
