After nearly 40 years since their last World Rally Championship win, MINI is back on the podium, with Dani Sordo and Carlos del Barrio coming third overall in the Rally of Germany last weekend.
Teammate Kris Meeke had been running in a strong fifth place, until an off-road excursion caused by an 'optimistic' pacenote put him behind Petter Solberg. Sadly a loss of electrical power put an end to his rally on stage 18.
"I am really, really happy for me and the team," said Dani after his impressive performance in Germany. "The MINI John Cooper Works WRC was really good on tarmac. Obviously we can improve and get the car better and better. We shall now work a lot to try and beat Citroen as well."
The next WRC round that MINI will compete in will be the Rally France at the end of September.
