Yesterday a British man became the fourth Briton to die after falling from a hotel balcony this summer.

Paul Newman, 37, fell from the sixth floor of the Royal Beach Hotel in Magaluf on the Balearic island of Majorca.

Police say that he was staying in a room on the fourth floor but when he returned to his hotel with a group of friends at 5am, it seems that he travelled to the sixth floor by mistake.

A Cilvil Guard Officer said: "The man leant over the railing to try to see where their room was located and overbalanced and fell. He was killed instantly. It was an accident."

Last month three Britons were killed in falls in Ibiza, and earlier this month an Italian and a Bulgarian also died in separate falls in Majorca.
