A British woman has died from meningitis while enjoying a 'party holiday' in Ibiza with her best friend.

Karleen Clark, 22, from Manchester, had felt unwell for a few days before the trip to San Antonio, but was told her headaches were simply migraines.

Just a few days into their holiday, Karleen was taken to hospital with sickness.

Doctors diagnosed meningitis and quickly called her parents, who flew out immediately to say their goodbyes. They made the decision to turn off her life support machine, before flying home with her body.

Her father Darren, 44, has paid his daughter an emotional tribute, telling the Daily Mail: 'She was the life and soul of the party.

'She took life by the horns, she was never miserable and she was always out socialising.
'Karleen was my life and I can't believe she's gone.'

Karleen worked as a nursery nurse at Kidspiration, whose manager said: 'She was a really hard worker and was so good with the children.

'Everyone loved her and she'll be really sadly missed.'
