Brad Pitt gave the humble Cornish pasty a huge boost this week - by ordering 700 of them for cast and crew on his latest film set in Falmouth.

Staff at Rowe's Cornish Bakers initially thought someone was playing a practical joke, until the manager of the store convinced everyone it was a genuine order.

Marketing boss Paul Pearce told the Express: 'I knew Brad Pitt was filming in the area but initially I thought "This has got to be a wind up".

'But as the conversation went on I realised the request was genuine and we set about it. It was a bit of a mad rush.'

Baker Adrian Evans added: 'It was absolute craziness for the rest of the day. We were cooking batch after batch to get the order out.

'Afterwards the shop looked like a bomb site.'

Brad is currently filming his new zombie movie World War Z in the Cornwall town, and it is thought someone suggested ordering the giant batch of the local trademark pie after the normal lunch delivery failed to turn up.

While Brad is filming in Cornwall, Angelina Jolie has been treating their kids to all sorts of day trips in Richmond and Central London, including cinema outings and a visit to the Sea Life London Aquarium.

It is thought Brad's family will join him in Falmouth for a two-week yacht holiday on the Cornish coast.
