Video: Surrey cop Tasers the car thief who ran him over

There isn't normally much room for Hollywood-style heroics in the health and safety obsessed police procedure for apprehending crooks, but every now and again a British bobby manages to go spectacularly beyond the call of duty.

Constable Dan Pascoe did just that when his patrol car was rammed by a stolen BMW last month. The 27-year-old was lucky to escape serious injury as he was thrown in the air by the collision.

The car thief began a 23-month jail sentence yesterday after conviction at Guildford Crown Court. Click below to see what happens when things suddenly get real on Surrey's mean streets.
