Lewis Hamilton's second victory of the season in Germany has given McLaren a little extra momentum, but the British driver is approaching the race weekend in Hungary in his usual fashion. After a few days practice this week, he made a good start by posting Friday's fastest time.
Hamilton: "Practice went very well today – unlike for the last couple of races. Even last year, we were quite competitive at this track. I adjusted the car's setup slowly and it now feels pretty good. We'll see tomorrow, though, whether we're as quick as everyone else."
He wasn't yet prepared to say if he would be able to beat Red Bull in qualifying for the first time this year: "The Red Bull's are fast on all parts of the circuit; I just hope we stay close." Sunday's goal remains unchanged: "We take each race as it comes, and aim to win as many as possible."
The tyre situation is fine from Hamilton's point of view: "The supersoft is the better tyre; it's faster and better on long runs. Also, it's quite well-suited to the temperatures. If it gets any warmer, though, it'll be tricky, but the tyres are holding up well so far."
