Figures from a university study released today show a surprising 76% of middle class mums work while their children are aged under one.

The research from University College London was supposed to reassure us that a child's behaviour and ability to play with others was unharmed by a mother's absence at work by the age of five – based on the opinions of the mums themselves – but some of the findings it threw up are, frankly, more interesting.
