Fisker working on 'Veyron levels of performance'

Fisker Automotive, the California-based electric car company, claims it is developing a new gearbox for its cars which will have "Veyron levels of performance".

Electric cars are already capable of remarkable acceleration through single ratio transmissions - the Tesla Roadster manages 0-60mph in 3.9 seconds - but Fisker's boss believes a multi-speed gearbox could improve performance even further.
