Colourful beach hut clashes with council

Updated

The owner of a beach hut on Hove seafront has angered council bosses after giving it a colourful makeover.

Jeff Allen says he commissioned a friend to paint the hut for him and was shocked when he saw its bold design.

'So many people love it, but this should never have happened. It has certainly ruffled a few feathers,' he told the BBC.

Brighton and Hove Council's strict rules require beach huts to be painted 'iceplant green' and has told Mr Allen he has two weeks to repaint his beach hut sticking to their 'clear terms and conditions'. Mr Allen has promised to do so.

What do you think of Jeff Allen's brightly coloured beach hut? Do you think beach hut owners should be allowed to paint them whichever colour they choose? Tell us below.
