The world's fastest roller coaster opens in Dubai

Speed demons will be happy to know that the Formula Rossa - the world's fastest roller coaster - is open for business at Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi.

It does 0-60mph in less than two seconds, uses the type of hydraulic winch that flings jets off aircraft carriers and races round the track at 150mph.

The bright red roller coaster, located right next to the Abu Dhabi F1 circuit, takes passengers on a high-speed ride that lasts less than two minutes, rising to 170ft and taking in dips, curves and turns which arc just 5ft above the ground.

Entry to Ferrari World costs £37 and there are also children's attractions, shows and other heart-stopping rides like G-Force, the tower of speed which propels riders more than 200ft into the air before plunging back down.
