Is Cheryl Cole plotting a secret exotic holiday with Ashley?

Cheryl Cole may not be having the best time of her professional career, but she appears to have found the perfect antidote to her work woes: by plotting a luxury tropical holiday with with no other than her ex husband Ashley.

According to reports in this week's NOW magazine, the couple (pictured here before their separation in September 2010) are so loved-up again that they are planning to spend some serious time together in an exotic retreat.

The article says that the seemingly reformed 'love rat' Ashley has rarely left his ex's side since her exit from the US X Factor last month.

The 30-year-old footballer is now in Los Angeles, where he is taking a long-planned break with his mates (where he was recently snapped with a mystery brunette) but the magazine report says that, behind the scenes, he and Cheryl, 27, have been hatching holiday plans 'to get away from it all' and celebrate her 28th birthday at the end of the month.

'He's going to make it a trip she'll never forget,' reveals the Now source.

'He's planning every detail, down to the 1,000-thread count Egyptian cotton sheets in what he intends to be the most luxurious suite.

'His LA trip with the lads had been planned for ages and he wanted her to join him, but she couldn't face going back there so soon after the X Factor fiasco.

'She told him to go and enjoy himself, but it wouldn't surprise me if they bring forward their holiday plans and meet up somewhere like the Maldives after his LA sojourn.'
