Missed out on Olympic 2012 tickets? It's Thomas Cook to the rescue!

Applied for Olympics 2012 tickets but were sorely disappointed when you missed out? Don't panic! You can still get a golden ticket - through Thomas Cook.

One of the biggest UK holiday operators still has hotel and tickets deals - although seats at the top events don't come cheap!

All the packages provide a room at one of a number of hotels in and around the capital but the prices range from £99 to as much as £6,999.

The in-demand 100m final is just one of many of the events on offer as well as the opening and closing of the London games.

More than 55% of Britons who tried to get tickets, including Mayor Boris Johnson, are thought to have been disappointed in their attempt at securing tickets through the first round of the 2012 ballot.

Being an official sponsor of the three-week event means Thomas Cook is now authorised to sell the selection that they have.

A spokesman for the tour operator told the Daily Mail: 'We continue to guarantee the public, tickets and hotel rooms to this once in a lifetime event that simply aren't available to purchase separately.'

The cheapest package on offer is a ticket to the early stages of the beach volleyball competition, taking place at the Horse Guards Parade and a night at a two-star B&B in Heathrow.

For those with more cash to splash, seats can be guaranteed in the Olympic stadium to take in the opening ceremony, plus entry to hockey, equestrian, badminton and handball events and a four-night stay in The Waldorf Hilton, but will set you back just short of £7,000.

A second round of balloting is set to take place in the next few weeks but will be exclusively for those who failed in the first attempt, with an email due to be sent out shortly providing further information.
