Infiniti names Sebastian Vettel as a brand ambassador




The automotive brand ambassador scheme is a funny one in our minds - it seems to basically involve a company getting a celebrity to drive around in their car and get photographed putting bags of shopping in the boot in Chelsea.

We're not sure anyone would buy a Vauxhall just because Katie Melua drives one, but we think Infiniti has scored a bit of a hit with its latest ambassador - F1 world champion Sebastian Vettel.
The endorsement is down to the deal signed between Infiniti and Vettel's F1 team Red Bull in March, and will see the 23-year-old German take a role in raising the profile of the company at Grand Prix meetings and at other events.

Vettel, pictured above with Nissan's global marketing boss Simon Sproule, is Infiniti's first ever global ambassador, and said "Since our first contact with Infiniti I liked their cars. After I had the chance to test some cars in the range I became a big fan. They are comfortable as well as sporty when you ask for it."

And even though there is no doubt a financial incentive behind what he is saying, Vettel's opinion should carry a fair amount of clout when it comes to boosting Infiniti's sales and profile as he continues dominating this year's Formula 1 title race.
