Lamborghini plots 'everyday' third model

'Everyday' is not a word you'd apply to any Lamborghini product, but according to the brand's boss that's what we've got to look forward to from the Italian supercar maker.

Stephan Winkelmann, the company's chief executive, told those gathered at Reuters Global Luxury and Fashion Summit that the third Lamborghini was destined to be an everyday model.
He didn't specify which segment this new model would be aimed at, but the suggestion of greater usability and practicality suggests either an SUV or a saloon are in the pipeline.

Speaking at the event, Stephan Winkelmann said: "We are going to have a third model. It has to be an everyday car. We want to have a car which is able to be used on a daily basis."

Winkelmann has indicated in the past that he is sceptical of the idea of a Lamborghini-badged SUV, which means the firm may be considering a car based on the Estoque concept first shown in 2008.

Whatever the final design, the Italian company will expect the new model to generate sales beyond its current supercar customer base, particularly in the burgeoning Chinese market.
