Vauxhall reveals striking Galaxy rival
Vauxhall has unveiled the production version of the Zafira Tourer - the new model it expects to rival the Ford Galaxy.
While it shares its name with the current Zafira MPV, the larger Tourer will sit above it in Vauxhall's line-up, and is expected to be a more upmarket effort.
We'll have to wait for the Frankfurt show in September to see the car up close and personal, but we already know it will definitely feature the popular Flex7 seating system already used in the Zafira.
An increase in wheelbase length - by almost 60cm - means the car should benefit from more legroom than the current car, and Vauxhall claims the handling characteristics have been improved by using Insignia components in the new chassis.
Certainly the car looks the part. MPVs are forever doomed to a box-on-wheels profile, but the Tourer benefits from styling nips and tucks in all the right places.
Expect the usual range of Vauxhall engines to feature beneath, including three version's of the 2.0-litre CDTi diesel engine.
If you're interested in getting to the front of the Zafira Tourer queue, the order books are due to open before the end of the year.
