France tightens speeding laws

If you thought the UK's speeding punishments were strict, then be thankful you don't live in France, where the authorities have just announced a savage tightening of the traffic laws.

French motorists will now be liable for a fine of up to 3,750 Euros for exceeding the limit by 50km/h, and could also be sent to prison for a maximum of three months.
