Supermarkets descend into petrol price war

Well, it's taken longer than we thought it would, but last night the supermarkets finally flexed their financial muscle and kicked off the latest petrol price war.

With wholesale fuel costs falling it was only a matter of time before one of the big stores took the plunge and finally passed the savings onto bargain-thirsty shoppers.
