Ulrich Bez to sell his Rapide in aid of Japan
Aston Martin boss Ulrich Bez is set to auction off his company Rapide to raise funds for the victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
The four-door Aston Martin is due to go up for sale at the Bonhams auction dedicated to the brand on 21 May in Newport Pagnell and is painted in Concours Blue.
Bez is the only owner of the car so far, which was built for him in late 2009. It comes with a black leather interior, heated front and rear seats, twin rear DVD screens and an integrated garage opener. We are also pretty sure that it will have been as well looked after as you could possibly hope for – no service engineer is going to want to mistreat the boss's car after all.
Bez said that the company has many friends in Japan, and it wanted to do something to help.
"Nobody could have failed to be moved by the recent events in Japan and we at Aston Martin are no exception," he said.
"The Bonhams Aston Martin Auction seems the perfect platform to encourage the extended Aston Martin family to support this cause, so we have decided to auction my Rapide which I have used in my role as Chief Executive to represent Aston Martin at numerous events in both UK and Europe. I hope this superb car will raise a substantial amount to help make a difference."
Bonhams has also offered to waive their usual commission, to ensure that as much money goes to the cause as possible.
