Increase in equity release plans

The number of pensioners unlocking money from their properties continued to increase during the first quarter of the year as homeowners were tempted by product innovation, research indicates.

A total of 5,812 equity release plans were taken out during the three months to the end of March, 4% more than during the same period of 2010, according to equity release specialist Key Retirement Solutions.
