Paris
With its reputation for elegance, chic and haute couture, Paris must surely top the list for all you fashionistas. Dior, Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent... all are synonymous with the French capital and the city boasts not just these but other boutiques and designer stores.

At the Avenue des Champs Elysees, not only will you find top designers (among them the largest Louis Vuitton store in the world) but you can ogle luxury cars before heading to one of the chic little bars for a cocktail. At Boulevard Haussmann, you'll find Les Galeries Lafayette - this designer wear department store give customers the chance to see what's hot in the world of fashion with a regular Friday fashion show.

Dubai
Dubai has long been associated with luxury and from gold and diamonds to designer fashion, it's a must for shopaholics. The Deira Gold Souk (the largest in the world) features an astonishing array of jewellery, some of which can be made bespoke especially for you or your loved one.

No trip to Dubai would be complete without visiting the enormous Dubai Mall - once again gold retailers are here in their 100s but there are plenty of fashion retailers too.

New York
From department stores to art galleries, the shopping opportunities in New York are many and varied. Visit Macy's, Bloomingdales, Saks or Bergdorf Goodman to grab designer gear or take a stroll to find smaller, funky boutiques with their own unique style.

Of course, the famous Tiffany's flagship store graces Fifth Avenue and, for the child inside, FAO Schwarz is the toy store in which Tom Hanks played a giant piano in Big.

Tokyo
If gadgets and technology are your thing, Tokyo is a must-see city. The Shibuya district is fabulous for evening shopping - busy, fast-paced and home to an astonishing array of lights, this is where you'll find gizmos and gadgets aplenty. But Tokyo is a city worth a wander as there are hidden gems to be found.

Copenhagen
If you are looking to shop 'til you drop, Downtown in Copenhagen is the place to go. Boasting the world's longest pedestrian mall, the likes of Gucci sit happily next to high street brands such as H&M. There are also a host of vintage fashion boutiques, edgy one-offs and stunning homewares shops.

Marrakech
For those who prefer to barter for their bargains, a visit to a Moroccan souk is a great experience. At Marrakech you'll find everything from hand-crafted woodwork and intricate jewellery to naturally-dyed wool Berber carpets. And foodies will be in their element with the range of spices on offer. There's plenty of hard-selling from the vendors but equally, there are bargains to be had if your bartering is up to scratch.
