15 die in New York tour bus horror crash
At least 15 passengers have died in a freak tour bus crash in New York, when the roof of the bus was 'sliced off'.
The driver lost control when he swerved to avoid a tractor trailer, and the bus toppled on its side, skidding along the road before smashing into a metal sign, which ripped through all the windows, opening up the coach 'like a tin can'.
The crash happened on the New England freeway in the Bronx at 5.30am local time.
A spokesman for the New York Fire Department, which had to cut free 34 trapped passengers, said the pole 'went through the whole bus from front to rear'.
The coach, owned by World Wide Tours based in Brooklyn, was returning to New York City from the Mohegan Sun casino in Norwich, Connecticut.
As well as the fatalities, there are also six people being treated in hospital in a critical condition.
