Modern take on Jaguar E-Type to get limited run
The 50th anniversary of the Jaguar E-Type has inspired all kinds of nostalgia, but we thought it would go no further than the odd enthusiast meet or parade of very early examples.
We never would have expected a modern take on the car from a Swedish firm to actually enter production.
But Vizualtech is set to make its 5.0-litre V8 powered Growler, and aims to have it ready for delivery to its first customer by next summer.
It comes with a remapped supercharged version of the 5.0-litre engine that sits under the Jaguar XKR, but claims it will produce around 600bhp, so it should be able to get to 62mph in under four seconds.
It is hardly going to be a large-scale production car though, with each one taking six months to build, and the company not intending to make more than three or four at a time.
It will also take its underpinnings from the XKR, and will be built on a carbon fibre chassis, with a composite body and should weigh around 1,550kg in total.
The price is a way away from the original E-Type's though, which cost around £2,100, as the Growler is likely to cost from £420,000, or up to £850,000 if just a few are made.
